Man shot dead in hunting expedition

James Tettteh, a 34 year old farmer, who allegedly shot and killed his colleague during a hunting expedition at Dampong, near Asuboa, in the Asante Akim South District, has been remanded into prison custody.

The Konongo Magistrate’s Court remanded Tetteh, who is said to have shot dead 30 year old Stephen Kwame Amo, also a farmer, when he mistook him for a game, during the expedition with six other young men at Atwedie.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, the District Police Commander who briefed the Ghana News Agency said the incident happened on Saturday, June 6.

He said after the deceased was shot, he was rushed to the Juaso District Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body has been deposited at a private mortuary at Yawkwei, near Konongo.

DSP Latebu said the docket had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice, and advised the public to desist from group hunting, saying the practice often ended in tragedy.
