Some Ghanaians have expressed anger over what looks like the sudden return of power outages popularly known as ‘dumsor’ following the takeover of ECG by PDS.
John Lartey has even threatened to sue President Nana Akufo-Addo over the current power cuts that have affected most parts of the country.
Lartey, who says this does not happen in London where he used to reside for 17 years, alleged that the situation caused him to sleep outside due to the unbearable heat at night leading to a snake a bite on his leg.
“The blackout which started three days ago in the night, let me sleep outside and I was bitten by a snake,” he said. As a result, he said he is indicting the president to a tune of GH¢10m for damage repairs.
As part of the compensation, Mr Lartey is demanding a commercial bus popularly known as ‘trotro’ to enable him to ply the Dansoman-Odorkor route as a means of survival.
“So I want Akufo-Addo to cure me and besides I’m going to damage him GHC10m cedis.
Apart from that I want one bus to run Dansoman to Odorkor… trotro,” he told GhanaWeb. He is hopeful that the cuts in power will soon end.
Many parts of the country have been experiencing blackouts for the past two nights. This comes after the Electricity Company of Ghana handed over operations of the company to Power Distribution Services (PDS) in February 2019.
Some affected areas include Lapaz, Abeka, Sowutum, Kasoa, Dansoman, Tema, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Awoshie and parts of northern Ghana.
Energy Minister, Peter Amewu, has given his word that the power outages will be over in five days.
