Authorities at the Volta Regional Hospital might be compelled to seek the help of the Police to enable them to carry out a post-mortem examination on Alexander Foli, a patient who vomited 212,000 cedis in currency notes and some stones at the Ho District Hospital about two weeks ago.

Mr Foli was said to have died on arrival at the Regional Hospital where he was referred to on Friday March 21.

Dr Godfried Nyamuame, Medical Superintendent of the Regional Hospital who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday, said the Police might be necessary if the family of Foli, who are yet to contact the hospital authorities, objected to the post-mortem examination.

Explaining why the Police would have to be brought in if the family objected, Dr Nyamuame said the late Foli did not die in the custody of the hospital hence the involvement of the Police.

Medical Authorities at the District Hospital said an x-ray on Foli indicated that there were more unusual items in his stomach similar to the ones he vomited.
