Twifo Praso (C/R) June 7, GNA- The Twifo-Praso District Magistrate Court has granted a 10 million-cedi bail, with one surety to be justified to Therson- Coffie, Manager of Sompa Cocoa Buying Agency, for allegedly assaulting a couple over a debt of 2.8 million cedis. He pleaded not guilty to assault, unlawful entry, stealing and causing unlawful damage and would reappear on June 14.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector, George Okine, told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that during the 2004 main crop season, the complainant, Mr Arhin Blankson, a purchasing clerk of OLAM Ghana Limited, another cocoa buying agency, approached Therson-Coffie for the loan to pay some cocoa farmers.

He said Mr Blankson failed to pay back the loan on time and so on April 28 this year, Therson-Coffie, accompanied by six of his workers went to Blankson's farm and brutally assaulted him.

Inspector Okine said the accused and his workers later went to Twifo-Ekutuase, and forced the door of the complainant opened and took away a weighing scale and in the process attacked Mr Blankson and his wife.

The complainant reported the incident to the police leading to the arrest of Therson-Coffie.
