Accra -- The Ghana Mango Week event which began on Monday, March 13th at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge Accra was huge and well attended by Ministers of State, Exporters, stakeholders in the Mango Industry, members of the media and participants from francophone countries.
The theme for the Ghana Mango Week Celebration is; "Mango, the Next Big Product for Ghana" and is being organized by the Federation of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), in collaboration with the National Horticultural Task Force, with sponsorship from the Trade and Investment Programme for a Competitive Export Economy (TIPCEE), the German Development Agency, GTZ and USAID.
The event was officially opened by Hon. Kwadwo Affram Asiedu, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. In his keynote address, Mr. Asiedu said the event is taking place at a time when the concern of the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Trade and Industry is to effectively move the economy of Ghana from dependency on a limited number of traditional commodities. He said the week long event will be a platform for information and exchange of experiences in the Mango Industry.
There were also remarks made by Hon. Clement Eledi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Prof. Sefa Dede, Chairman of the National Horticultural Task Force, Mr. Augustine Adongo, Chief Executive of FAGE. Participants of India, South Africa and Ivory Coast also made presentations.
The event is exclusively managed by the well renowned Global Media Alliance and moderated by the ever popular Kwaku Sakyi Addo of BBC and JOY FM.
