As part of efforts to support the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Manya Krobo Emergency Covid-19 Fund has donated a consignment of covid-19 items to the health directorates of the Lower Manya and Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region.
The presentations were made at brief but separate ceremonies on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the premises of the two directorates.
The donations of the PPEs were the first of its kind to be done by the fund following its launch in April, 2020.
The two health directorates received veronica buckets with stands, boxes of hand sanitizers, surgical masks, hand gloves, liquid soaps, tissues and other medical equipment.
The Lower Manya Krobo Health Directorate, aside the items also received Ghc 1000 worth of fuel coupons to assist its contact tracing activities in the municipality.
Co-chairman of the Manya Krobo Covid -19 Emergency Fund, Nene Kwesi Detse pledged the commitment of the fund to assist in the management of the Covid 19 cases in the municipality.
He reiterated the commitment to remain as helpful and responsible as possible in ways that will make a meaningful difference and promised that the committee will in its subsequent donations extend its gesture beyond health workers to the security services and social welfare departments as part of the collaborative efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus in the locality.
Municipal health director of Lower Manya Krobo, Bismarck Sarkodie, thanked the Covid -19 Emergency fund for coming to their aid as he promised that the items will help its cause in the fight against the disease.
He nevertheless urged all and sundry to comply with government safety protocols and directive to help eradicate the disease from the country warning, that the disease is real.
"When you talk to some people they don't believe the disease exists but I want to tell them that the Covid-19 exists. So what we can do is to wear our face mask, wash our hands regularly under running water and comply with social distance rules to stay free from contracting the Coronavirus," Mr Sarkodie cautioned.
Health director for upper manya krobo, Mrs Esther Duah Oyinka similarly expressed her appreciation to the managers of the covid-19 fund and promised the preparedness of the directorate to support the fund to fulfill its responsibilities.
Secretary to the Manya Krobo Covid-19 Emergency Fund, Mr. Godfred Ofoe Caesar appealed to individuals, corporate bodies and philanthropists to support the fund in diverse ways to enable it continue its support for the stakeholders involved in the fight.
The fund launched on 21st April, 2020 has so far accrued some GH¢44,000.00
