Martin Addy Tetteh adjudged LANMMA Best Farmer

Mr Martin Addy Tetteh of Otinibi, near Oyibi, has been adjudged the Best Farmer of the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipality.

Mr Tetteh, who had been farming for the past seven years, took away a “Doko” Tricycle, a knapsack sprayer, agrochemicals, tuna flakes, a pair of Wellington boots and shovels.

Mrs Margaret Nyamike took the second prize, while Mr Daniel Owusu, Assemblyman for Oyarifa Electoral Area, placed third.

Mrs Jennifer Dede Afagbedzi, the Municipal Chief Executive, noted that the Government is improving on agriculture by ensuring that enough improved seeds were distributed to farmers to increase yield.

She said government was initiating measures to ensure smooth agricultural practices in the Municipality.

Mrs Afagbadzi called for the improvement in extension services, research and mechanisation to move agriculture forward adding that commercial farmers should be appreciated to serve as encouragement.

The celebration was on the theme: “Agriculture: Moving Ghana Beyond Aid.”
