Member of the NDC communication team, Sammy Gyamfi has portrayed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s approval of Martin Amidu as the first Special Prosecutor of our land as a complete agenda against the National Democratic Congress [NDC] especially members of the past government led by Ex-President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him the level of bitterness in the appointed Special Prosecutor against members of the largest opposition party lured the President to make him occupy the position for his counterfeit agenda to be accomplished.

Sammy Gyamfi described Martin Amidu as a strong NPP member who is more into the affairs of the party than some zealous party members we know of, just that he behaves in the open as an NDC member, but within him and his actions are more of NPP.

“I do not believe that it is fair for the President to say that he has got a fair Special Prosecutor to fight corruption in this country”, he said on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme.

“One thing he must also keep in mind is that siting of the office of the Special Prosecutor or the appointment of a person to occupy the position cannot fight corruption and also does not show that he has fought corruption”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia in a recent interview after the appointment of the Special Prosecutor said he was still a member of the NDC, since he has not resigned his membership from the party.

He was responding to rumors that Martin Amidu, a founding member of the NDC, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice under late President John Evans Atta Mills had resigned from the party.

“We have also heard the rumours but we have not received any resignation letter from Martin Amidu about any resignation at all. He continues to be a member of the NDC because we want more people to join the party”, he clarified.
