Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Martin Amidu, on Tuesday joined former President Rawlings to mark the 34th anniversary of the June 4 revolution.
In an uncharacteristic manner, the former military leader who has in the past lit the perpetual flame called up the Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, Chief of Osu Doku Nii Doodu Sackey and Martin Amidu to light the flame.
This year’s anniversary took place at the Revolution Square in front of the Flagstaff House in Accra.
The anniversary is marked every year to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in defense of the bloody uprising.
The ceremony was also attended by the Volta Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, and other ministers of state.
Chief of Osu, Doku Nii Doodu Sackey, in a speech admonished Ghanaians to take a sober reflection of what the day stands for.
He added that Ghanaians should hold high our gallant soldiers who took part in the revolution.
Speaking to XYZ News, Mr. Hudu Yahaya said he felt very humbled to be called upon to light the flame and as a nationalist he will contribute his quota to see the nation grow.
