Former Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer John Owusu Agyemang has advised Mr. Martin Amidu not to focus on prosecuting corrupt officials of the out gone administration—if he is approved as the Special Public Prosecutor by Parliament.

Speaking in an interview with Nana KAS on Suncity 97.1 FM’s Morning Drive in Sunyani, Lawyer Owusu Agyemang said the Special Prosecutor should rather focus on the current government officials and leave the past ones for the Attorney General to deal with them.

“I will plead with Martin Amidu not to focus on corrupt officials of the past government since he is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). They have already embezzled the funds…and some of them are standing trials. He should leave them for Attorney General to deal with them,” he said.

“He should rather focus on NPP officials who will engage in corrupt practices. He should fight against those who do not want Nana Akufo Addo’s dream to become a reality. He should tackle them and stop them from being corrupt,” Lawyer John Owusu Agyemang Added.

He stated that Martin Amidu’s nomination as the Special Prosecutor is in order due to his track record as an anti-corruption crusader.

The Former Brong Ahafo Regional NDC Chairman stressed that Mr. Martin Amidu can deliver--and it is not true that he has some bitterness within him as being speculated by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“What some NDC members are saying that Martin Amidu is bitter is not correct. Where is his bitterness?” he queried.

“Martin Amidu is like Former President Jerry John Rawlings. Since 1979, Rawlings had preached against corruption…that’s the same thing that Martin fights against. If he fights against someone who is corrupt…then where lies his bitterness. I do not know why they are saying that because he is still a member of the NDC,” he stated.

Lawyer John Owusu Agyemang called on the Judiciary and all Ghanaians to help the Special Prosecutor to fight against corruption in the country.
