Agboklu Kosi Richard, a 21-year-old mason from the Republic of Togo has been sentenced to five months imprisonment by the Hohoe Magistrate Court for stealing 270 pieces of cyber boards which he sold for GHC2,970.00.

Agboklu who pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea said he committed the crime to pay for the cost of medical treatment of his mother in Togo and pleaded with the court to have mercy on him.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector George Doe, told the court presided over by Mr. Peter Anongdare that in April 2018, the complainant Yao Agbodeka, a chainsaw operator residing in Hohoe-Gboxome engaged the services of one Gaspi who is also a chainsaw operator to saw lumber for him in Fodome in the Hohoe Municipality.

Inspector Doe said in course of the work, Agboklu joined as a labourer and was tasked to carry cyber boards to the roadside.

He said while Gaspi and Yao proceeded to Hohoe to look for buyers of the cyber boards, Agboklu without their knowledge stopped a cargo truck heading towards Kpando and sold the lumber and went into hiding in Kpalime in Togo.

Inspector George Doe said Yao Agbodeka on May 14 this year, spotted Agboklu at Kute, near Hohoe, arrested and brought him to the police.

He said Agboklu admitted the offence upon interrogation by the police
