Mass promotion in the Immigration Service

One hundred and thirty-seven senior officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) across the country have been promoted by the Immigration Service Council (ISC) to their next respective ranks.

They were promoted after satisfying the requirements of satisfactory performance and good conduct, as well as passing promotion interviews as contained in Regulations 17 (1) of the Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 [L.I. 2245].

Seven Assistant Commissioners of Immigration (ACI) were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCI), and notable among them are ACI Peter C. Nantuo, Head of Legal, ACI Isaac Oklu Lourtey, Head of Operations; ACI Maud Anima Quainoo, Head Administration; ACI Yaw Owusu-Achiaw, Deputy Western Regional Commander; ACI Evelyn Lotsu, Financial Controller and ACI Prudence Aku Sosuh, Eastern Regional Commander.

Twenty-One Chief Superintendents of Immigration (CSI) were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI).

Among them are CSI Samuel Basintale Amadu, Tema Regional Commander; CSI Faisal Disu, Head of Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation; CSI Kojo Oppong Yeboah, Head of Human Resource; CSI Justice Amevor, Aflao Sector Commander; CSI Francis Palmdeti, immediate-past Central Regional Commander; CSI Kwasi Opoku Apau, Upper East Regional Commander and CSI Charles Bediako, Brong Ahafo Regional Commander.

Seven Superintendents of Immigration were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Immigration, and notable among them are Supt. William Andoh, Head of Enforcement of the Northern Regional Command; Supt. Michael Asiedu Ampomah, Head of Management Information System; Supt. Eunice Abeyie, Deputy Head of Human Resource and Supt. Daniel Langbiir, Deputy Head of Work Permit Section.

Eighty-Two Deputy Superintendents of Immigration (DSI) were promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Immigration.

They are DSI Isaac Ghansah, DSI Nicholas Allassani, Course Commander of the Immigration Service Academy; DSI Believe Bubu Yao Pomeyie, Staff Officer of the Immigration Service Academy and Training School; DSI William Essah, Staff Officer of Ashanti Regional Command; DSI Emmanuel Kwaku Burah, Head of Transport; DSI Regina Nana Nyarkoa Asiedu, Domestic Bursar of Immigration Service Training School; DSI Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, and DSI Amoateng Ennin, Deputy Chief Staff Officer and aide-de-camp to the Comptroller-General of Immigration.

Twenty Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (ASI) were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI).

The promotion, which is in fulfilment of the Immigration Service Act, 2016 [ACT 980] and its Regulations [L.I. 2245], is also in making good the Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery’s promise that promotion of Immigration Officers would not be delayed in the GIS under the current Akufo-Addo administration.
