Footage shared on social media by Metro TV captured a massive crowd jubilating on the campus of the University of Ghana after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate John Dumelo allegedly took an early lead following the close of polls.

In the video, a massive crowd believed to be sympathizers of the NDC are seen dancing, singing, and jubilating amidst counting and sorting after close of polls for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

They are heard chanting the name of the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The video was accompanied by the caption: "Massive jubilations on Legon Campus as NDC makes history by winning all polling centers as per provisional results."

Counting and results declaration are underway following the closure of polls at 5pm across most of the polling centres in the country.

The 2024 elections took place across 276 constituencies in the country, with the process being largely peaceful.

Pockets of violence have, however, been recorded, with one person confirmed dead in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.

The EC has meanwhile urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as they execute their mandate of delivering successful elections.
