The Former Minister for Transport, Dzifa Attivor, is enjoying massive support from members of her political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) especially the youth wing in the Volta Region in spite of the plethora of criticisms against her over the tribal comments she made recently.

Ms Attivor has said the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has the penchant for targeting and jailing leading figures of the NDC from the region, when they are in power.

She told a gathering of NDC supporters in Volta region that “when the NPP came to power in 2001, a lot of our people were sent to prison; Victor Selormey, Dan Abordakpui, and so on, was imprisoned. Was it because no other persons committed crime in Ghana? But it was only Ewes that they jailed.

“I want to entreat you not do anything for me and Fiifi Kwetey go to prison. It lies with you all to ensure that no Ewe person goes to prison. So I am pleading with you to work hard and deliver the 120 thousand vote target for the party in the constituency,” she said.

The NPP, National Peace Council and Former President Jerry John Rawlings, have all condemned the ethnocentric comment by the former minister, calling on her to render an apology to the Ghanaians.

But speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi, host of TOP FM’s morning show on Thursday, Egypt Kudoto, Volta Regional Youth Organizer for the NDC said Ms Attivor has done no wrong to apologize for.

According to him, the calls for an apology from her is a mark of double standards because some leading members of the NPP, have in recent years made worse ethnocentric comments that had the propensity of plunging the country into a deadly anarchy and chaos but they never apologized for making those comments.

He said he finds the calls for apology strange.

He told Ekourba Gyasi that the youth wing of the NDC in the Volta region is solidly behind Ms Attivor because she has done no wrong.
