Accra, Sept. 21, GNA - Reverend Nii Blebo Anang, Minister-In-Charge of the Mataheko branch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has called on Christians to play a leading role to ensure that peace and unity prevail in this year's general elections. He said as the nation entered another era of her democratic development there was the need for Ghanaians to unite and fight for a common goal.
Rev. Anang made the call at the end of a Health and Peace Walk held in Accra on Sunday as part of activities marking the 20th Anniversary celebrations of the Church. The Walk, which started at the premises of the church at Mataheko through Kaneshie to Zongo Junction through Flamingo finally ended at the starting point.
He said the Church which started with only 10 members in 1988, now has a congregation of 350. Rev. Annang pledged the Church's commitment to its corporate responsibility and would as a first step construct a hospital for the community very soon.
He appealed to Ghanaians to take active interest in sports to enable them remain healthy at all times. Some of the activities planned for the celebration, under the theme "Let us put on the whole armour of God for Effective Witnessing" include Games, Gospel Rock Show, Revival and Cooking Competition.
