Maulvi calls for peace on earth

Tema, April 27, GNA - The Tema Circuit of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on Sunday held its annual conference with a call on mankind to re-examine their lives and reconcile with others, to ensure peace for the present and succeeding generation.

Maulvi Raghib Zia-Ul Haq, Greater Accra Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission said "the search for peace comes from the heart and the voice that comes from the heart is the only one that establishes real peace because it is based on love and wrath". Addressing the conference held on the theme, "Peace, a Tool for National Development" in Tema, he said, peace and security can only be guaranteed in the world when the false and oppressive notion of supremacy of some nations is eradicated. He noted that no matter the intervention of the United Nations Security Council, peace and security would not prevail if each others sentiments are not respected, and called for a change of heart to ensure that the next generation is not left with rancour, bitterness and instability.

"We must not let our future generation sink into that pit from which our ancestors brought us out, to where we are today," he said. Maulvi Haq warned that posterity would not forgive this present generation if we allow selfishness, pride or search for material gains to blindfold us so that we do not leave a good legacy for the future. He prayed that Allah the Almighty would touch the hearts of everyone, especially those intending to seek revenge, so that they would let peace prevail in the entire world, for the rapid growth of all nations. The Maulvi therefore called for an end to wars and skirmishes at all trouble spots in the world, calling on leaders to resort to dialogue as that is the only solution to conflicts and misunderstanding. Madam Irene Naa Torshie Addo, MP for Tema West Constituency appealed to all constituents, irrespective of their political affiliations to bury their differences and unite to support her develop the area.

She appealed to the Mission to carry out income generating activities that would empower the women to become self sufficient and contribute effectively to their home. In a welcome address, Mr Ibrahim Adam Sagoe, President of the Tema Circuit Mission appealed to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Tema Education Directorate and Madam Addo, for financial and material support to complete the Mission's Junior High School building. Mr Sagoe expressed gratitude to the former MP for Tema West, Mr Abraham Ossei Aidoo, and Ghacem Limited who donated 100 and 200 bags of cement respectively towards the project.
