Maxwell Konadu is now officially the new Asante Kotoko head coach after his unveiling yesterday at the club’s training grounds at Adako Jachie, and a tall task stands before the former Wa All-Stars and Black Stars B manager.

The experienced tactician was appointed to replace former coach, Kjetil Zachariassen after some poor form of results that have seen the team exiting CAF inter-club competitions this season.

However, following his appointment, the 47-year-old has revealed exactly why he chose to welcome the challenge of the Porcupines in his career.

“The difference is that that, this time the team’s efforts to get me was greater than all other years, that also played a major role. Dignitaries from all facets who have the club at heart kept calling me every now and then, including our own Dr Kwame Kyei (Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko),” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“I think it’s the right time for me to make that decision, because the efforts from the officials to get me was greater, and in football too, even for players they go where they are most wanted. Most of the times it’s not about where you get the most money but if you go where you are wanted the most that is where you are mostly successful, so I think the timing is right and I don’t think there will be a problem”.
