Media Foundation boss mocks Akufo-Addo in latest CPI report

Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah has mocked the Akufo-Addo led government for failing to ‘pass’ the Corruption Perception Index, MyNewsGh.com reports.

Ghana scored 41 points out of 100 on the 2019 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International in its latest rankings

Corruption Index in Ghana averaged 38.95 Points from 1998 until 2019, reaching an all-time high of 48 Points in 2014 and a record low of 33 Points in 1999.

In a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the MFWA president made mockery of the NPP government failing to pass its ‘remedial’ at the second attempt, describing the 41 score points as a failure.

“Not Even E8. First Time 40/100. First Remedial 41/100 = F. 2nd Remedial 41/100 = F.”

President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2018 said Ghana’s poor ranking on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) was “largely” influenced by corruption claims in the past regime.

He said the Transparency International’s 2017 CPI, which shows a sharp drop in the performance from the 2016’s 43 points score to 40 points was an indication of the “enormity of the task ahead.”
