Srogboe (VR), Dec 28, GNA - Dr Kwadzo Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral commission of Ghana (EC) has appealed to the media to avoid creating unnecessary tension and panic in their coverage of the Presidential run-off Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the East Ridge Basic School Polling Station at Srogboe, in the Keta District, Dr Afari-Gyan complained that simple issues were being magnified, which was creating tension and suspicion. He said the atmosphere of suspicion generated by media reports had for example caused a one hour hold-up in voting at the Information Polling Station at Lashibi in Anloga, in the Keta constituency, where a small dot in the column of one of the candidates was suspected to be a ploy to cause that ballot to be rejected during vote counting.

Dr Afari-Gyan was however hopeful that the exercise would end well throughout the country. Voting generally was orderly at polling stations visited by the GNA in the Ketu-South, Keta, Anlo and the Ave-AVenor constituencies, but turnout so far appeared low compared with the December 7 polls.
