Veteran Broadcaster, Adakabre Frimpong Manso has accused the media of piling unnecessary pressure on the Minister of Information, Dr. Mustapha Hamid making him look terribly bad as a non-performing minister in the eyes of the public.
According to Adakabre, the media seem not to understand the workings of government which has led to the constant attack on the Minister.
Hon. Dr Mustapha Hamid who’s President Akufo-Addo’s Spokesperson and official mouthpiece of government have come under a barrage of criticisms by section of the public and some political watchers who accuse him of doing very little to sell government’s programmes and policies and also defend the government when necessary.
Some have said, with his vast experience as a media practitioner for several years, they expected Dr Mustapha Hamid to draw an effective communication strategy to market the government, but as it stands now, the verdict is that he’s woefully failed and has rather allowed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to set the agenda in the media forgets many talking down the Akufo-Addo administration.
But speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Wednesday, Adakabre Frimpong Manso jumped to the defence of the Information Minister saying the sort of treatment being meted out to the Information Minister by the media is so unfair and must cease.
“The media is putting so much pressure on Mustapha Hamid and that may affect his judgement…what is his job? his job is to tell us what is happening and then when he comes and tell us what is happening and we make it seem as if he could have told a different story and he’s telling this story then it’s not fair.”
Adakabre mentioned the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta as his best performing Minister thus far, saying his delivery and ability to perform will inure to the advantage of the citizenry.
