Takoradi, July 4, GNA - Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister has cautioned the media against allowing itself to be used to destroy the nation.

She said the media was a very important tool in the dissemination of news, views, features and many others adding, "the society must not use it to divide the country".

Madam Horner-Sam said these at the launching of the 70th anniversary celebration of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) at Takoradi over the weekend.

She said many people used the media, especially radio to insult, create confusion, attack the reputation of individuals and sometimes raise false alarm about corruption.

Madam Horner-Sam urged Ghanaians to be circumspect in their use of the media and advised management of the various media institutions to design programmes that would reflect the national interest and cultural setting of the Ghanaian.

Mr Gift Odartey-Mills, Western Regional Director of the GBC said the Twin City Radio, which operated on 94.7 and 88.1 metre bands could now be heard all over the Region.

He said new programmes would soon be introduced to meet the increasing demand of their listeners.
