Members of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) have been asked by leadership to resume duties as their strike has been suspended.

A notice released late Friday said a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed earlier in the day between the Ministry of Health and the Association “on the three key issues that compelled us to lay down our working tools”.

It assured members that the roadmap to the implementation of the MOU will start on Monday.

The medical laboratory scientists withdrew their services on Monday, May 28, citing discrepancies in their salaries under the Single Spine Salary Structure.

Their strike hit hard on private laboratory scientists, who threatened to join their colleagues in the public hospitals if government had not heeded to the latter’s calls.

“Leadership assures all members of our total commitment to the full implementation of every item in the signed MOU for the benefit of our members and cherished clients.

“We seek your continuous support at each stage of implementing the agreed roadmap,” the notice jointly signed by President Dr Ignatius Awinibuno and General Secretary Michael Amo Omari said.

Some members had complained of intimidation from management during the five-day strike.

“We further pledge that the Association will stand by members who have been intimidated or victimized by management owing to their participation in this strike.”
