Hohoe, Sept 4, GNA - A three-day medical outreach programme, as part of the annual Adomviwo (Royal descendants) event, has attended to over 500 patrons, on the second day of the exercise. The annual Adomviwo Homecoming, christened "Adomviwo at Five: Together We Build", is a socializing and interactive event of the people of the royal clan of Hohoe.

Mr Ludwig Hlodze, a Presidential Aide and the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, supported the outreach programme with assorted drugs and also brought in seven consulting Cuban brigade doctors to attend to members of the public.

He disclosed to the Ghana News Agency that his involvement was part of his social responsibility to his maternal compatriots and that the programme is targeting 1,000 clients during the exercise. Dr. Gonzalez Annibal, leader of the medical brigade team said hypertension and diabetes were prevalent among patrons treated, with malaria and eye-related problems following in that order. He said moving health service delivery closer to the people through such outreaches would eliminate some of the prevalent illnesses afflicting members of the public.

Ms Felicia Asumah, a staff of the Hohoe Municipal hospital commended the organiser for his foresight, saying his gesture would reduce the high attendant rates being experienced at the hospital as a result of the health insurance system.

She appealed to members of the public to donate blood to the hospital's blood bank to avert the frequent shortages. Madam Challot Dzimake, 65 and Godsway Bansah, 40, who benefited from the medical outreach, advocated for a periodic similar exercises, to take care of the busy people, who are reluctant to visit health facilities for treatment.
