Comfort Ghartey, a UK-based Ghanaian ward host, has gained widespread recognition after being featured in an ITV News documentary for her heartwarming approach to patient care at the Royal London Hospital.

Comfort has become a figure within the hospital for her unique way of brightening the days of those in her care.

The documentary captures Comfort as she makes her rounds, greeting patients with breakfast while singing joyfully.

Her smile and voice have been a daily source of comfort and encouragement for patients at the hospital for the past seven years.

"No one wants to lie on the bed, so when it happens like that, they need our support, our encouragement. Singing as well and laughter is also medicine," Comfort explained during an interview.

She continued, "My name is Comfort, so I asked myself why my parents gave me that name. I said it has a purpose, so if I am Comfort, then I need to comfort the patients as well," she shared.

Patients expressed gratitude for Comfort’s actions.

Lily Carter, one of the patients interviewed, highlighted her appreciation for Comfort’s demeanour and regular interactions.

"It is so amazing. I think coming to a hospital and seeing so much happiness and joy is a great benefit, and everyone is becoming well," Leso Boundy, another patient, added.

Ouma Madhoosingh, the ward manager, also praised Comfort's efforts.

"You know, you just have to be a bit positive and bring some laughter. If she can bring a little bit of that to the patients, then that is fine," Madhoosingh stated.
