Meet Magdalene Cobbina, the first female lawyer from Aowin municipality

The Chief and residents of Jomoro in the Aowin Municipality have appreciated one lawyer Magdalene Cobbina in the area by constructing and commissioning a new maternity block named in her honour, according to thelawplatformonline report.

The maternity block, which cost GH¢ 1.6 million, was built by Nana Kwame Nkansah II, the Chief of Jomoro, as an honour to Cobbina, the first female to be called to the Bar from the Aowin municipal area.

According to the report, during the commissioning ceremony, Nana Kwame Nkansah II highlighted the motivation behind the project, stating, "I built this maternity block to honour Lawyer Magdalene Cobbina, as an encouragement to other females and the younger generation to prioritize their education."

Magdalene Cobbina, Esq., who has shattered glass ceilings for women in Aowin, expressed her appreciation for the honour bestowed upon her.

She took the opportunity to advise the youth of Jomoro, urging them to value education.

She also appealed to the community to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility, which she noted would greatly contribute to addressing the health needs of the Aowin Municipal area.

Equipped with modern medical facilities, the maternity block includes a waiting room, a delivery room with a state-of-the-art delivery bed, and rooms outfitted with air conditioning. The facility is expected to significantly improve maternal healthcare in the Aowin Municipality.

Joseph Abass Asigri, the Municipal Health Director, expressed his gratitude to Nana Kwame Nkansah II for his support of the health sector and the welfare of the people in the area.
