Nana Baffour Dabanka is the Nkonwasoafohene of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
For 28 years, Nana Baffour Dabanka has held the position of the carrier of the Golden Stool, a role that dates back to the era of the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.
He is a business mogul who is into the importation and sale of clothing in AshTown, Kumasi.
On Sunday, May 12, 2024, history and tradition converged as the Golden Stool, also known as Sika Dwa, was showcased to the public at the grand durbar celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
As the centrepiece of the Adae Kese festival, the Golden Stool drew hundreds of eager onlookers, captivated by its historical significance as it was ceremoniously carried through the crowd.
This year, social media was abuzz with speculation about the identity of the bearer, with many posts attributing the role to a Professor of Human Biology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The claims, widely circulated by accounts such as Benjamin Effah Amponsah on platform X and shared by Asante Nation, quickly gained traction.
However, Nana Baffour Dabanka has clarified that he has never pursued a career in human biology or any related academic field. Instead, he has devoted his life to commerce, building a successful business empire.
In an interview with Luv News, Nana Baffour Dabanka expressed his pride and dedication to his role.
"This is a responsibility I cherish deeply. Serving Asanteman by carrying the Golden Stool is an honour that transcends any personal accolades or achievements in my business endeavours," he stated.
Golden Stool Carrier NOT a Professor of Human Biology. Nana Baffour Dabanka, as opposed to what was shared on social media, is a business tycoon who is into the importation and sale of clothes at AshTown, a suburb of Kumasi – Ashanti region.
