He feels fulfilled by his achievement of acquiring a building with twelve rooms after years of hard work and persistence.
In this new episode of Everyday People, we speak with One Man, a trader at the Dome Market in Accra, as he shared his life experiences, including the challenges he faced in paying his registration fees, which led him to become a cobbler to afford them.
What makes One Man proud is his ability to acquire a building, a feat that almost half of his community can attest to.
Speaking with GhanaWeb’s Victoria Kyei Baffour, he proudly mentioned that he has built a house, and it's not just any building—it has 12 rooms.
“When you reach my hometown, Asante Akim Obogu, and with the endorsement of my community residents, when you arrive at the lorry station, start counting the buildings. After the fifth one, you'll see my house. It's not just any house; it has 12 rooms and is quite impressive.”
Meanwhile, One Man also shared that he wishes he had waited longer to start a family.
According to him, if he had gone to school back then, he might not have become a father so early.
“I had my first child in 1996. If I had been in school then, I wouldn't have become a father that year because I would have been focused on my studies. But life doesn't always go as planned. My first child graduated in 2014,” he said in Twi.
One Man also praised the free senior high school initiative, saying that if he had had that opportunity, he wouldn't have become a father so soon.
