Former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, convened a meeting with Religious Leaders in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Monday, November 11, 2024.

This followed a similar session in Accra, marking Mahama’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with the clergy and address the spiritual and moral questions surrounding his campaign.

The gathering held rally-like energy as pastors and prophets voiced their support for Mahama, many expressing confidence in his potential return to the presidency. The former president, keen to foster a transparent dialogue, invited the clergy to voice their questions and concerns about his leadership goals.

During the session, Prophet Razak, a prominent religious figure in the region, raised an issue of reconciliation that many had wondered about but few had addressed publicly. “Why haven’t you reconciled with Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings?” Prophet Razak asked, referring to the widow of the late former president Jerry John Rawlings. Nana Konadu, once a core figure in the NDC, left to form her own political party amidst tensions, a rift that had only deepened with time.

Prophet Razak shared that he felt divinely led to raise the issue. “Mr. Mahama, regardless of any past grievances, I believe you’re called to make peace with her,” he advised. “If this reconciliation doesn’t happen, it could tarnish your legacy and affect your bid for leadership.”
