....Rawlings Is Like A Mad Dog
A member of the prestigious Council of State of the Republic of Ghana has described former President Jerry John Rawlings as being like a mad do who should just be allowed to go his way until he hits his head against a tree and dies.

He has again described former president, amidst the use of unprintable language, as a loose talker, an incorrigible and undisciplined individual.

Interestingly the member of the council of state, Nana Oheneba Dapaah, mounted this attack on the former president even before the controversial press conference held by the former President last Thursday, October 26. Oheneba Dapaah made his highly unpalatable statements while speaking to Mr Kwabena Maafo, the morning show anchor on Capital Radio in Kumasi in the morning of last Thursday, October 26, 2006 a few hours before Rawlings was to hold his press conference in Accra.

The Council of State member had been called to express his opinion on the current impasse between the current president, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor, and the former President, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, and the best ways of resolving their differences.

But instead of putting forward palliative solutions on the already troubled political waters of this country, Mr Oheneba Dapaah chose to pour on burning cauldrons of oil. He started off by accusing former President Rawlings as someone who was opposed to the idea of seeing another president coming after him, and stated that Rawlings has been going about accusing the current president of committing various crimes.

“Now, with everyday that passes, wherever he goes, he has been accusing the current president of various crimes,” he said.

In the face of the recent accusation made by President Kufuor that Rawlings was plotting treason, Nana Oheneba Dapaah absolved President Kufuor of all blame.

“You see that the current president does not mention the name of Rawlings at all. Even if he talks about him, he is circumspect in his use of language. But wherever the former president goes he accuses Kufuor of being a thief or of this or that crime!” he said.

He said that as a former President, it was unacceptable that he was constantly disgracing the sitting president. Then he started the unprintables live on radio.

“With all respect, if you live in a nation and there is sh-t and you are sitting in it, then you also smell of sh-t and you should know it! That is how it is” he said graphically.

Going on, he stated firmly that the Council of State cannot resolve the current impasse.

“So it is not something we can resolve. What I say all the time is that where the natural decency is lacking, the gods are powerless! The former president is incorrigible! We do not know what we can do to change him! What pains me is that the people around him cannot be bold, as we on the Council of State are bold to tell the sitting President when he goes wrong, to tell him when he goes wrong,” he said.

Going on, he added that the former President, the members of the Council of state respects themselves and “the way he talks, we can’t invite him because he won’t mind giving us his loose talk, so we have left him like a crazy dog. If he walks around and knocks his head and dies, then he goes his way.”

Nana, I believe you are really a member of the Council of State? Asked how the way he is talking can contribute to the peace that was being sought, he rather chose to pour more invective on Rawlings, saying that he is just one person among twenty million Ghanaians, and his character precluded the Council of State talking to him.
