Men falling behind in updating SSNIT records

Ho, Aug. 13, GNA - Men generally are deficient in updating their records with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.

That is not the case with women.

Mr David Torkornu, the Volta Regional Manager of SSNIT, said this not the case with women at a seminar organized by the Network for Women's Rights (NETRIGHT) in Ghana for women in the Volta Region.

He cautioned that the pension benefits of such men risked being claimed by persons other than those they would have wished to do so.

Mr Torkornu said experience had shown that most men were either ignorant or did not care about updating their records with SSNIT, a situation which became problematic in claim processing.

He appealed to women, especially wives, to encourage their husbands to regularly update and check their records.

Mr Torkornu said though there were legislations to protect women and children in claims disbursement it was important that records were regularly updated to ensure speedy processing and payment of such claims.

He advised men to stick to one partner to avoid problems in claims disbursement.
