Kumasi, July 25, GNA – Men have a greater responsibility in re-shaping the changing and decaying world to bring it to God’s standards.
The Very Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Immediate Past Moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana, (PCG) said this in a sermon to mark the 26th Annual Conference and Thanksgiving Service of Asante Presbytery Men’s Fellowship at the Trinity Congregation at Kwadaso in Kumasi, at the weekend.
The three-day conference on the theme:”Empowered by the Holy Spirit- Men’s Encounter,” is held annually to take stock of the past year and plan for the future.
He said: “Our world is going through change and decay and men have a greater responsibility in re-shaping our world to bring it to the standard that God wants. There is corruption, criminality, political incorrectness, promiscuity, hatred, irresponsible parenting and Godlessness all around us.”
Very Rev. Frimpong-Manso pointed out that human societies were being destroyed by wars, hatred and human wickedness and in all these men played a leading role.
However, he said, when they encounter Jesus Christ and are empowered by the Holy Spirit societies should be redeemed by the Love of God in Jesus Christ.
“Our men must, therefore, be empowered by the Holy Spirit for holy living and service to the Lord and humanity. Men empowered by the Holy Spirit will live, lives of hope and vitality,” he added.
Very Rev. Frimpong-Manso, who is also the Kwadaso District Minister of the Church, noted that when men were empowered by the Holy Spirit, homes that were being destroyed would be restored to cohesion and the standards that God meant for the family prevail.
“If our men are empowered, it will affect our marriages, homes, workplaces, schools and the entire Ghanaian communities and our institutions positively for effective church and national development,” he stated.
Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, Asante Presbytery President of the Fellowship, urged members to make conscious efforts to seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in their Christian journey in order to be more efficient and effective.
