Mentorship Commissioner receives the Prestigious Clock of Conscience Award at UN Headquarters

In June 2025, Rev Emmanuel Agyemfra, a Ghanaian-born Minister and a transformational missional Leader based in New Jersey, was appointed Mentorship Commissioner for the Fifth Congressional District of New Jersey by the US Embassy for Peace, a federal organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to advancing mentorship diplomacy, peacebuilding, and development across the United States and globally.

This appointment recognizes Rev. Emmanuel’s outstanding leadership at the intersection of faith, diplomacy, and international cooperation.

As Mentorship Commissioner, he will work to foster mentorship relationships that promote peace, leadership empowerment, and sustainable development, bridging cultural gaps, focusing on both local engagement and global partnerships, particularly in the United States, Ghana, and the broader African continent.

Through this role, Rev. Emmanuel will connect emerging leaders, civic organizations, and faith communities within his district and beyond, advancing diplomacy through mentorship as a tool for sustainable peace and societal growth.

His extensive experience in global mission, interfaith dialogue, and community development positions him as a dynamic and visionary leader in this national initiative.

In few weeks into this new role, Rev. Emmanuel Agyemfra, was honored with the Clock of Conscience Award during the First International Day of Hope celebrations at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The International day of Hope will be observed on July 12 of every year.

This landmark event, held from July 10 to 11, 2025, brought together world leaders across diverse fields, including diplomacy, the arts, faith, community organizing, and international development.

The celebration was hosted by the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), a global organization dedicated to promoting peace, conscience, and sustainable development worldwide.

Rev Emmanuel Agyemfra’s recognition with the Clock of Conscience Award affirms his lifelong commitment to global mission, peacebuilding, justice, and the flourishing of all humanity. His work as a pastor, community leader, and advocate for human dignity and interfaith cooperation has touched lives across continents, from Ghana to South Korea and now in the United States.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Emmanuel expressed deep gratitude for the honor and reflected on the significance of conscience and peace in global leadership: “We must honor the gifts and potential of all of God’s people.

When we are conscious of the diverse gifts each person brings, we can build peace that is just, sustainable, and shared by all.”

The Clock of Conscience Award is an internationally recognized honor, awarded to distinguished individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership in promoting peace, sustainable development, and the dignity of all people.

Rev Emmanuel now joins a global network of conscience-driven leaders committed to making the world a better place.

This award marks another milestone in Rev Emmanuel’s growing impact on the global stage, highlighting the important role of African Christian leaders in shaping conversations about peace, justice, and mission in the 21st century.

Rev Emmanuel’s appointment to the US Embassy for Peace underscores his growing influence in bridging faith and diplomacy to address pressing global challenges. His work continues to inspire collaboration across borders, fostering a vision of peace rooted in mutual respect, dignity, and shared purpose.

Rev Emmanuel currently serves as the Lead Pastor and Chief Missional Strategist at Leonia United Methodist Church in Leonia, New Jersey.

Under his leadership, Leonia Church is flourishing as a multicultural, multigenerational “All Nations” congregation, welcoming people from diverse backgrounds and traditions.

Leonia Church is celebrating its “135 Years of Making a Difference” this year 2025 and through his transformational, visionary and shared leadership, Rev Emmanuel Agyemfra is courageously leading the congregation into its new phase of ministry.

Notably, the church was designated a New Jersey Peace Site in 2015, affirming its commitment to being a place of reconciliation, justice, and peace.

In addition to his pastoral work, Rev Emmanuel Agyemfra is a Doctor of Ministry candidate in Transformational Leadership at Boston University School of Theology.
