Meridian FM Incites Gas Against KK

Mr. Kwasi Korang alias KK, a popular contributor on radio discussions countrywide has debunked claims circulating around town that, he insulted Gas on a phone-in programme on Meridian FM. Consequently, he has challenged the host of Meridian FM, one Nii Badu Mensah, to play back the tape of the purported statement he made during the Phone-In programme which several people including the host has claimed was an insult.

"I did not insult Gas, and I can never do that any day. However it is sad and strange that a host of a radio programme could behave the way Nii Mensah did on that fateful day when he incited Gas against me," he said.

According to KK a phone-in programme after the newspaper review on Meridian FM last Friday, he called to contribute and appealed to all those who were accusing President Kufuor of neglecting Accra and Gas, to revise their notes since the government has done a lot to improve the national capital and that Ghanaians should be proud of that achievement and stop the blame-game.

"However, before I could complete my statement the host of the programme who is supposed to know better cut in to claim I have insulted Gas, and that I should apologise. Try as I did to challenge him to play back the tape or my statement for the issue to be dealt with once and for all, he refused to do that insisting that, I had insulted Gas," KK complained.

He noted that following the pronouncement by Nii Mensah, some people started threatening his life with strange calls which he has forwarded to the Police.

"I have friends who are Gas and for somebody to think that I am a tribalist to the point of insulting Gas is untrue just as fact-twisters will suggest the sun rises from the West, when it is natural that the sun rises from the East," he observed.

A worried looking KK, therefore appealed to the management of the FM station to call Nii Mensah to order, and intervene for him (Nii Mensah) to playback the tape for the whole world to be privy to what he said, to help put the issue to rest.

"Can you believe that following the incitement of the people and the countless threats I have received, my freedom and security situation has changed? I will hold Nii Mensah liable should anything untoward happens to me because of his unprofessional spin he put on my statement and its intended effect," he stated.

He blamed the host of the programme for allowing his personal interest to over-ride the practice of true journalism and hoped he will take steps to pray for forgiveness and reform.

KK said to rob salt into injury, the same accusation leveled against him was reproduced in the pro-NDC weekly THE GHANAIAN LENS, which was loaded with insults no decent paper would carry in its columns.

The gentleman who styles himself as a nationalist thought the plan by Nii Mensah and that hideous writer who operates under that JB pseudonym, will rebound right into their faces which he believes need a bit of dusting-up.
