Methodist Church dedicated

Kumasi, July 13, GNA - Mr Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Member of Parliament for Suame Old Tafo, has commended the Methodist Church for its decision to establish a University at the beginning of this academic year.

He said the Methodist Church has been involved in education since the early missionaries set foot in the country through the establishment of colleges, secondary schools, primary schools and nurseries.

Mr Mensah-Bonsu was speaking at the commissioning of a 300-million cedi Kronum Calvary Methodist Church at Kronum, near Bremang, in the Kumasi Metropolis.

He praised the leadership of the church for its foresight, and hard-work saying the establishment of the university would complement the efforts of the nation in ensuring quality education for the youth.

Mr Mensah-Bonsu advised members of the church to adopt life-styles worthy of emulation adding that Christians are the light of the world and must be shinning examples to others.

Rev. Kwaku Asamoah-Okyere, chairman and general superintendent of the Kumasi District of the Methodist Church, who dedicated the chapel praised the for their hard-work and commitment.

He called for the spirit of peace, love, compassion and brotherliness among the congregation. Brother Kwadwo Fosu, an elder of the church, who presented the keys of the chapel to Rev.

Asamoah-Okyere, said the building was started in 1974 and was completed after 25 years with contributions from the members.

Rev. Asamoah-Okyere was assisted by Rev. Samuel Aidoo-Bervell, Superintendent Minister of Suame Circuit of the Church and Rev. William Taylor, the Resident Minister.
