Methodist Church in Chicago support hospital and association

Saltpond (C/R), Dec 1, GNA - A delegation of the United Methodist Church of Chicago in the United States of America has donated 500 dollars to the Saltpond Government Hospital for the purchase of a Sphygmomanometer, an instrument for measuring blood pressure.

The delegation who are friends of the USA branch of Saltpond Redevelopment Institute (SRI), an association to accelerate development of Saltpond, donated an office jet, a machine for printing, faxing and scanning, worth over 13 million cedis to the local branch of SRI. The delegation comprising medical doctors are offering free screening and treatment of patients suffering from hypertension and other diseases.

Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman District Chief Executive (DCE), who received the money on behalf of the hospital thanked the donors and appealed to them to promote links between the District and some cities in America.

The DCE assured the donors that he would personally ensure that the money was used for the purpose it was donated.

Nana Takyi VII, Chief of Abonko and Kyidomhene of the Nkusukum Traditional Area who is the Chairman of the local branch of SRI received the Jet Machine and expressed gratitude to the donors from their support.

He stated that the SRI had initiated a number of programmes to improve the living standard of the people of the area including the setting up of a computer training school.
