Metro TV begins expansion towards nationwide coverage

Accra, Aug. 23, GNA - Metropolitan Television (Metro TV), a privately owned television station, is embarking on an expansion project that would enable it to cover the entire nation by the end of 2011.

This is to position the station as the number one free-to-air television station for viewers and advertisers in the country. A statement signed by Talal Fattal, Chief Executive Officer of Metro TV and issued on Tuesday, said the network has so far doubled its transmission power in Accra and Kumasi as part of the expansion programme.


The statement said, the decision to reach out to more cities was also informed by the various requests that Metro TV management constantly receives from the public, individuals and national institutions. It said the network will now add six regional metropolis to the expansion project, namely; Bawku in Upper East, Techiman in Brong Ahafo, Hohoe in Volta Region, Obuasi in Ashanti, Tarkwa in Western Region and Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region. The statement said, the network is keen on expanding and improving its content and develop programmes relevant to the corporate world and the public.


It said 93having achieved our target of urban and sub urban profile, Metro TV had to complement that with premium Family Quality Entertainment content and we have acquired top notch TV programs for our loyal viewers."

"The new programs, mostly in the Family Entertainment genre will be launched in October, just in time for the Sales & Marketing community to plan ahead of their 2012 advertising budgets", the statement added.


The statement said, the expansion programme will be in two phases, with the first phase in Nkawkaw, Obuasi & Tarkwa, whilst phase two will be in Techiman, Hohoe and Bawku, to complete the expansion exercise by the end of 2011. Metro TV is also available on Channel 136 on DSTV and can be accessed by satellite over Africa, Europe & the Middle East.
