TWO conductors of the Kumasi branch of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) have been sacked for selling the counterfoils of tickets to commuters barely two weeks after the company began operations in the city.

The two were also alleged to have abandoned post during breaktime for a drinking spree. They are Evans Anfom and George Donkor.

Anfom was dismissed for abandoning his bus for a drinking spree during a short break and returning some hours later with the proceeds from his ticket sales which short by about ?75,000.

Donkor, on the other hand, was sacked when he was caught selling the counterfoils of tickets he had already sold to passengers.

The Operations Manager of the branch, Mr N. Owusu, said the management of the company is very determined to ensure sustainability of the business and warned that any acts of indiscipline or corruption will attract the severest of punishment.

He said the scheme is bound to make a major impact on the transportation situation in the region.
