The Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) has set up a 13-member special task force to develop plans and strategies relevant to the establishment of its proposed University College.
The special task force has been tasked to take steps to enhance the educational performance of the school and contribute to the establishment and development of the Green University College.
The purpose of the task force was made clear during a ceremony, where three other special task forces were inaugurated in Accra, on Wednesday.
The three other task forces of the school are the medical advisory, legal advisory and on stage production boards.
The 12-member Medical Advisory Board, which includes a Psychiatrist, Dentist, Cardiologist, Pharmacist and a Nutritionist, are tasked to advise the school and its community on all health matters.
The Board is also expected to develop innovative health programmes for the school without any financial burden and provide leadership in the event of any epidemic.
The seven member Legal Board was tasked to deal with cases of the school requiring legal counsel and or appearances at the court of law.
Mr Joe Ghartey, Chairman for the occasion, urged the task forces to work hard to give back to the school what they received years ago.
He expressed his gratitude to the taskforces for agreeing to take up such important tasks to provide convenience to the school and raise its image.
Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the Chairman of the Mfantsipim Green University College Task Force, who spoke on behalf of the other task forces, said they should be mindful of the needs of both the current and upcoming generation.
Dr Chambas in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said he is proud to be associated with the school and would try his best as the chairman to develop the school and the university project.
He said they want to mobilize enough resources to develop the youth through the schools, to enable them to have an impact on the entire nation.
Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Member of the Mfantsipim Foundation, said the foundation which was set up by the School’s Board of Governance in the year 2014, shall strive to source for and provide financial and other logistics support to facilitate the holistic, sustainable development, expansion and management of the School.
Mr Danquah noted that the Foundation has engaged the services of Global Renewable Energy Services, a consulting firm, to work on sanitation and waste management rehabilitation of the school.
