MiDA spends GH¢23 million on Community Service Projects

Tamale, May 14, GNA - The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) ha= s invested over GH¢23 million into the Community Service Projects (CSPs) in all the 30 beneficiary districts in the country. The CSPs include the provision of educational infrastructure, potabl= e water supply and rural electrification.

Mr Samuel K. Kuma-Botchway, CSP Manager of MiDA announced this at a stakeholders' workshop on the Tamale Water Expansion Project (TWEP) in th= e Metropolis on Thursday. He said the TWEP, which is aimed at providing potable water for peop= le and also help in the eradication of guinea worm would benefit the Tamale Metropolis, the Savelugu/Nanton and the Tolon/Kumbungu districts. Over 50,000 people in the three districts are expected to benefit fr= om the project, which according to Mr Kuma-Botchway was at a draft detail design stage. He said MiDA was collating views from stakeholders to be included in the overall project design. He said consultancy work on the project started last year and hoped construction would begin September this year. improve the living conditions of people. He said when completed most of the rural areas would have access to clean potable water, which would help to reduce the incidence of guinea w= orm in the communities. 1b
