Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister designate vetted
Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, who has been nominated by President John Agyekum Kufuor as the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, on Wednesday said unbridled migration to Kumasi had contributed to the loss of the glory of the Metropolis as the Garden City.
He said there was pressure on the land, which was limited and the situation had led to the destruction of the environment. Mr Antwi said these when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament to be vetted.
In response to a question that the Government had not done much for the Ashanti Region, he said it was regrettable that the developments taking place in the Region had not been noticed because of the delay in the completion of the Asafo interchange. Mr Antwi said there were pieces of evidence of development in various sectors including that of education and health. He mentioned in particular developments taking place at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the Kumasi Polytechnic and some basic schools across the Region.
