The former Peoples National Convention Member of Parliament for Zebilla, John Ndebugri has criticized strongly the governing style of President John Mills. According to Mr Ndebugri, who defected to the opposition New Patriotic Party after falling off with some executive members of his party, the PNC, President John Mills has done nothing to have earned the high rating by the African Watch Magazine’s Political Performance Index’s grading.

The index scored Professor Mills a B for foreign policy, C- on the economy, C on social interventions and B+ for national security. Mr. Ndebugri supported the NPP General Secretary’s position that the President should have had a worse grade than the B accorded him by the index particularly on foreign policy. Speaking in an interview with Emefa Apawu, host of the Big Bite on Xfm 95.1, a privately owned commercial radio station in Accra, Mr Ndbugri said President Mills has done nothing to improve the country’s foreign policy except to continue, albeit poorly, the foreign policies of Former President John Kufuor and others. “Kufuor was all over the world, and that was how he quickly reversed the dire situation that he inherited. What happened, President Mills since he took over power some twenty something months ago, put himself in the castle until some of us started talking loudly”, Mr Ndebugri intimated.

To him, but for the intervention of the likes of himself and some others, President Mills would have turned the whole nation into one big prayer camp, saying the only positive thing that would have come out of it would be to have Prophet T. B. Joshua as friend. “He was always there (in the castle), attempting to turn the castle into a prayer camp,” adding that, “and if you turn the castle into a prayer camp, you think you would be making friends outside, your only friend would be T. B. Joshua of Nigeria who can’t take us anywhere.”

Describing President Mills as a president who is still campaigning after two years of being in office, Mr Ndebugri said the only success he has chalked is to bring division in the country and his own party, the NDC. He however was quick to add, “I am not the one saying it, even the founder of the party, the one who made him president with his aid is saying the man has failed. If Rawlings who anointed him is saying he has failed, who am I to say he has passed”. He called on the President to expedite action “in delivering the numerous promises that he made”, when he was campaigning for the presidency.
