Mr. John Boadu, an immediate past National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that if the accusers of the flagbearer of the NPP; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are asking him to go for a blood test with the BNI to prove his innocence of being a drug addict, can Ghanaians also ask the president to go for a psychiatric test following the outburst of his confidant; Mr. Ato Ahwoi before the 2008 elections.
It would be recalled that not long ago, Mr. Herbert Mensah, a leading member of the NDC, accused Mr. Ato Ahwoi, another leading member of the NDC, of saying that the then candidate Mills was at certain point hallucinatory. The tape on this matter emanated from Radio Gold, an Accra-based NDC loyalist radio station.
Mr. Ato Ahwoi was quoted as saying at that time that the president was "delusional, hallucinating and seeing human beings like trees." "Based on this allegation made by his own Party member or very close friend, would Ghanaians be right should they ask the president to see a psychiatrist? I am saying this because they are riding on accusation made by Mr. Kofi Wayo who used to be with the NPP to ask Nana Akufo Ado to go for a blood test.
It is only in this country that some one can accuse you and ask you (the accused person) to provide evidence," Mr. Boadu exclaimed. He has cautioned the presidency to warn all those elements in their Party to refrain from the politics of insults because if their opponents opt to follow the same trend of politicking, this country would never develop the way we all want to see it develop. "This type of politics wouldn't help in the building of this nation.
People in the NDC government must rather focus on developmental issues. They are attacking the personality and integrity of Nana Addo for no good reason but since nobody in NDC or government has come out to condemn Kofi Wayo who is the architect of this unwarranted accusation, then it means they accept his logic," he reiterated.
John Boadu emphasized that there are more pressing issues as a nation which is tagged with middle income status than to be doing this type of dirty politics. "We need to engage in decent politics, politics of addressing issues, politics of bread and butter, politics of fulfilling campaign promises and not to overburden Ghanaian workers with excessive and unbearable taxes when you actually promised the opposite.
We need to engage in the type of politics that would give hope to the suffering masses of Ghanaians and to those whose businesses are gradually collapsing", the former youth organizer of NPP advised. He has warned if that if the NDC does not stop this sort of sullied politics, then they would be made to see that there are more people like Kofi Wayo in the NPP. A word to the wise is enough," he said.
