Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight, Kenneth Kuranchie, has raised serious allegations on the circumstances under which the late President Mills died. According to Mr Kuranchie, the late president died under strange circumstances that have not been explained to Ghanaians.
"When did he get sick? How soon did they get to the hospital? What type of medications and transport did they use? What was the reaction of the hospital authorities? These are the natural elementary questions that arrived out of the president's death," he noted.
Speaking on the Citi FM’s Big Issue talk show, Ken indicated that the death of the late president was not a matter that must be left to the family alone considering the strange happenings around his death.
He was not happy with the manner in which the health state of the late president was handled by his close aides who accompanied him (Mills) to the 37 Military Hospital.
He recounted that the late Mills was taken to two wrong places before finally arriving at the appropriate unit.
When the late President arrived at the hospital, nobody knew exactly what to do with him because no medical history or document was available, Ken recalled.
According to him, Mills’ aides did not even bother to introduce the late professor as the President of the country until his face was recognised by a physician, leading to urgency in treatment but that was too late.
He expressed worry at the way some NDC members single-handedly bought health facilities for a sitting president of the nation.
Forthright Ken was more worried because the NDC sympathisers who managed the life of the late president were still managing the life of the current president.
"How on earth does a private individual buy a neck band without any medical recommendations? That neck band can kill if it is the wrong treatment," he noted.
As Ghana commemorates President Mills’ demise, it is expected that government will put in place the befitting measures to curtail any such occurrence against a sitting president.
