President John Dramani Mahama has stated that the final decision taken on the burial of the late President Mills should end the “petty politics” surrounding the burial of the late leader.
Addressing a delegation from the Assemblies of God Church on Friday, President Mahama said, “My decision for President Mills to be buried at Geese Park should put to rest the petty politics. He deserves respect.”
The late President Mills was earlier reported to be buried at the Flagstaff House; a decision which irked a section of the Public especially members of the NPP who argued that the Flagstaff house was not a prudent decision.
But on Thursday, a statement by the Funeral Planning Committee stated that President Mahama has decided that the land between the Castle Drive and the Marine Drive should be used as the final resting place for the late President.
According to the statement, the area would subsequently be developed into mausoleum for late Presidents.
Speaking to the delegation from the Assemblies of God Church led by the Rev Dr Paul Frimpong Danso, President Mahama stated that all the unnecessary debates regarding the burial place of the late President must end now that a befitting place has been decided on.
Meanwhile, XYZ News checks indicate that work has already begun on a portion of the Castle drive area where President Mills will be laid to rest.**
