Accra, Sept. 17, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday called on Ghana's High Commissioners and Ambassadors to help Government achieve its agenda of building a better Ghana. He said they were chosen for the confidence Government had in them, therefore, they should put Ghana first above any other interest in their foreign assignments.

President Mills made the call when presenting Letters of Commission to 13 High Commissioners and Ambassadors at the Osu Castle. He administered the Oaths of Allegiance and Secrecy to them. President Mills said they should market Ghana and pursue economic diplomacy to attract investment into the country. He advised them to be guided by Government's core values of investing in people, job creation, increased production and running an open, honest and transparent government.

Mr. Victor Gbeho, Presidential Advisor on Foreign Policy, advised them to be cautious of the manner they operate adding "You are the ears and eyes of the Government and people of Ghana in your countries of accreditation."

He said efficiency and good leadership were required to be abreast of issues in the country to enable the countries of accreditation know everything about Ghana.

Mr. Gbeho urged them to be motivated by the desire for national interest, and constantly learn through the government's manifesto and develop a reading habit.
