Re-elected flagbearer of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills says he is saddened by criticisms that his government has been slow in executing its promises.

The president is convinced that his government is not working slowly and does not know what people mean when they say the NDC is slow.

President Mills said this shortly after voting in the NDC’s historic congress that re-elected him flagbearer for the 2012 general elections at the Sunyani coronation park. He polled 2,771 as against 90 votes by his only challenger Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The president told his critics that his government is working at the right pace and that no one can build a house overnight.

President Mills stressed that the responsibility of government was to work to improve upon the welfare of the people, and that government would ensure the provision of the necessary infrastructure development, facilities and avenues to make life meaningful.

The founder of the NDC and former president Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, have been ardent critics of president Mills’ two year rule.
