The former Director General of the Ghana Health Service Professor Agyemang Badu Akosah has stated that the late President Mills would have achieved a lot for this country if he was fully in charge of his government.
According to Professor Badu Akosa, the late President wanted to improve the lives and conditions of the majority of Ghanaians but adds that the late humble President could have only done that if he was in charge of the machinery responsible of undertaking that task.
“As far as I knew him, he really believed that he could do something for the people of this country" Professor Akosa said.
He, however, added that: “what I wasn’t sure though was whether he was in control of the party and whether he was in control of the machinery that was to do what he thought was necessary for this country”.
Professor Akosa has also described as unnecessary the persistent calls for the government to publish the course of death of the late President Mills.
The CPP stalwart said the attempt to politicize the course of his death is unfortunate.
Speaking to Radio XYZ’ Strict Proof programme on the occasion of the late President Mills’ 1ST Anniversary, Professor Akosa said the nation must be rather interested in the event that led to his death in order to avoid future occurrences.
“The circumstances leading to death is a process investigation that must be done because it is important for our ambulance service and it is not only important for his Excellency, but if Prof. Akosa collapses anywhere the system should be such that it works for the benefit of Prof. Akosa and everybody else and let’s stop politicizing everything else”.
Meanwhile, a Political Scientist Aminu Dramani on the same platform disagreed with the perception that the late President was a weak leader.
He said the leadership style of Professor Mills was a unique one and must be seen as such.
