The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Trade Partners of the UK have invited the Minister of Private Sector Development, Mr. Kwamena Bartels and three members of the Ghana Investors' Advisory Council (GIAC) for a five-day visit.

They are Mrs. Elizabeth Villars, Dr. Kofi Amoah and Mr. Elias Preko.

The Acting British High Commissioner, Mr. Robin Gwynn who led a four-member delegation to announce this to the Minister on Friday said the visit is to show the Ghanaian delegation how the UK achieved success in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

"The UK attracts more FDI than any other country in the European Union and it is hoped that on their return, the team will be able to create the necessary conditions that will help Ghana attract FDI."

He said the UK government supports the priority the Kufuor administration is giving to bringing the Golden Age of Business, "including the development of the private sector".

Whilst in the UK, the Minister and his entourage would be meeting with officials of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Cabinet Office, HM Treasury, the Department of Trade and Industry and the British Consultants and Construction Bureau. Other places they will visit are the Confederation of British Industry, British Trade International and some private sector organisations.

They are also expected to attend a Ghana briefing to be chaired by the West Africa Business Association.

The Head of the Department for International Development of Ghana (DFID), Mr. John Winter, the First Secretary (Commercial) of the British High Commission, Mr. Kevin Lynch and the Commercial Assistant of the High Commission, Mr. Seth K. Amofa accompanied Mr. Gwynn.
