Minister for parliamentary affairs Felix Owusu Adjepong has rubbished the Commission for Human Rights and Administration of Justice?s (CHRAJ) report on a complaint brought before it about the granting of loans to members of parliament.

The commission, following a complaint by US based Professor Stephen Asare, directed that MPs should pay back into the Consolidated Fund the total outstanding car loans granted them in 1993/94 that were illegally paid off by parliament and government in 1995.

According to Mr Adjepong, the CHRAJ did not present enough detailed report and described the findings ? as somebody being in a rush to create sensation?.

He siad, though Parliament has studied the report, it considers the report to be based on somebody who had not contributed anything to the economy of the country and all what the Prof wants to do is verify institutions of state.

?This is someone who sits in the comfort of his home in America whose education was possibly sponsored by the state and contributes nothing to the economy. Comments from such people should be treated with the contempt that it deserves?, he said.

He said President J.A Kufuor has set up a committee to present a report on what remuneration should be paid to Member of Parliament (MPs).

He said the executive as enshrined in the Constitution considers such a report.
