Hannah Louisa Bissiw, Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing is alleged to have built a multi-bedroom double mansion at Techimantia, in the Tano South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

The Daily Searchlight newspaper can confirm that the projects which started in July, last year have been completed with people living in them. Information gathered from unswerving sources indicates that the project was supervised by the Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tano South Constituency, who also acts as the Personal Assistant of the Deputy Minister whenever she visits her hometown.

The mansions that have been fully completed with few touches yet to be made, have blue roofing tiles, wooden panel ceiling and tiled floor. The “first coat” painted buildings, sited on a two-plot land, is fully walled and tightly secured by a nicely designed iron gate. Though the building is situated at the outskirt of Techimantia, the Deputy Minister has managed to connect a pipe borne water to her mansion from a distance of about 500 meters.

Dr. Louisa Bissiw’s mansions are just by the road heading towards Derma. When the Hon. Deputy Minister was contacted two weeks after the Searchlight newspaper had visited the project site after conducting its investigation, Ms Louisa Bissiw declined talking to him, with the excuse that “I’ve never met you personally”. She added that One, I don’t know you and two, I normally don’t talk to people on phone that I don’t know, especially when you want me to grant you an interview about me, so you can proceed to my office if you want to talk to me, ok?” Asked when she would be available, she said, “I am in the Eastern Region now so I’m not sure you can see me, so call me next week.”

Interestingly, the Deputy Minister who claimed to be working in the Eastern Region and would be available in Accra the following week was seen on Metro TV’s “Good Morning Ghana” the following day (Thursday, September 16, 2010).

Yesterday (Tuesday, January 11, 2011), the Searchlight newspaper made a second attempt to contact her but her Secretary who answered the phone said the Minister was in a meeting. She however promised that the Minister would return the call later. As at the time of going to press yesterday at 8:30 pm, there was no response from the Minster.
